One of our favourites.. Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society, New Zealand's leading independent conservation organisation.

Our HR guy Gabriel Daniels, has an active interest in the Tawharanui Open Sanctuary Society, check them out via the Auckland Regional Council (ARC) website.

After completing her thesis research, ecologist and herpetologist Melinda Habgood is still actively involved as a volunteer guide on Tiritiri Matangi Island, more info via the Department of Conservation (DOC) website.

Our field teams wear "Dreadnoughts", which are perhaps some of the best work pants on the planet! Dreadnoughts are made in New Zealand by Cactus Climbing Equipment Ltd.

Native Plant Propagation

Te Ngahere have a close association with Scrub Growers Ltd, a native plant nursery established by Consultant - Senior Ecologist Rodney Straka in 1999.

With the objective of the Scrub Growers nursery being to "propagate and supply quality eco-sourced colonising native plants for large-scale revegetation projects", the companies focus complements that of Te Ngahere.

Based in Tahekeroa, north of Auckland, the nursery grows only genuinely eco-sourced native plant species for revegetation projects throughout the Auckland, Northland and Waikato regions.

Seed collection follows strict guidelines to ensure a multitude of healthy parent plants contribute to a enhanced genetic pool. Considerable emphasis is also placed on sourcing seed from plants that are found to be growing in similar conditions to those experienced in the proposed planting site.

Scrub Growers are currently growing for the Weed Control in Bush and Natural Areas contract that Te Ngahere has with Auckland City Council.

To contact Rodney in regard to the nursery you can use either his Te Ngahere details or refer yourself to Scrub Growers directly.
