Measuring Success in a Dynamic Environment
Home > Ecological Restoration > Implementation > Plant Pest Management

Te Ngahere views data collection and management as an integral part of forest restoration and weed management. They provide quantitative measures in an otherwise largely irregular and un-measurable environment.

It is essential that the conservation industry grasp all the contemporary management tools available if the industry is to maintain professionalism based on transparency and best practice.

Our expert decision support systems have been designed based on solid, experience based parameters and variables, utilising classes of species and restoration phases. This enables complex problems to be viewed and acted upon in a very systematic and effective manner.

Spatial Databases

Te Ngahere uses and maintains a comprehensive database management system to record, plan, analyse and forecast all our operations.

Our spatial databases allow quantification of the natural environment. To supplement quantitative key performance indicators from our databases we also maintain vegetation monitoring plots and qualitative photo points.

Te Ngahere is continually exploring and pursuing further opportunities in this area. We foresee the techniques of remote sensing, imaging, and spatial analysis becoming indispensable tools for the management of large remote conservation areas.
