Associated with the company since its inception, Dave graduated from Lincoln University
in 1993 with a Bachelors Degree in Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management (Ecology).
In 1994 he established Forest & Remnant Habitat Restoration Ltd, a business focused on habitat restoration within the Auckland region servicing the Auckland Regional Council and Department of Conservation, amongst others. After seven years of completing restoration projects, and a short break in America, Dave joined Te Ngahere in mid-2003 with 16 years experience in the conservation industry.
Dave manages a number of plant pest control projects for Te Ngahere, while also providing technical plant pest support to the company's restoration teams.
Dave has also completed a PGDipSc. in Geographic Information Science and is responsible (along with Kelvin Floyd) for the company's GIS-based services.
Throughout David's career he has focused on best practice and the improvement of industry standards. Today, the use of spatial data and geographical information science is used to improve the management, efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of pest plant projects.
International experience began with the Pitkin County Weed Advisory Board in 2001, in Aspen Colorado. Currently Dave is involved in capacity building throughout Micronesia, which is facilitated by the and The Nature Conservancy. This involves designing and delivering workshops on Weed Management Project Design and Implementation, and following up on progress throughout Micronesia. It is intended that this process will be delivered throughout the Pacific.
