Melinda joined Te Ngahere in early 2004 after graduating from Auckland University
with a Master of Science in Environmental and Marine Science (Conservation and Ecology).
Her degree focused on a holistic approach to ecological restoration and biodiversity management,
while her thesis investigated behavioral interactions between Copper and Moko skinks.
Previous work experience includes weed control work for DoC on Tiritiri Matangi and Motuora Islands.
Melinda's responsibilities within Te Ngahere include writing restoration plans and undertaking vegetation
monitoring work.
An interest in Tiritiri Matangi Island, which stems from her thesis research, means she is still
actively involved as a volunteer guide on the island.
