Waiheke Island, Auckland

Client: Auckland City Council
Project Duration: August - October 2004

Waiheke Island demonstrates a combination of the different services that Te Ngahere structures division offers. It includes a 7.2m long, architecturally designed bridge at Matiatia, two beach-access stairways and a handrail safety barrier at Onetangi Beach, a 9m bush boardwalk at Pearl Bay Walkway, and a bridge at Goodwin South Reserve and associated tracks.

To minimise the costs, the two bridges and staircases were prefabricated in the Te Ngahere yard and transported on-site.

This array of tracks and structures of varying sizes highlights the ability of Te Ngahere to meet the clients needs and compliment the environment in which they are situated, providing users with an ecological-friendly, recreational experience.
