Nelson Parks, Structure Upgrades

Te Ngahere South completed the upgrade of a variety of recreation asset
structures throughout the greater Nelson / Marlborough Region over six-months
early in 2004.
This project included structure upgrades in the Nelson Lakes
National Park, Abel Tasman National Park, Kahurangi National Park, along with
Golden Bay and Marlborough Sounds.

Service requirements included:
- prefabrication of a variety of structures in the Te Ngahere South depot
- transportation of these structures via truck and or barge, from Christchurch to Picton, Havelock
and Marahau, where they were flown via helicopter to site
- the ability to remove old structures and install prefabricated replacements with minimal downtime
on heavily-populated walking tracks
- the ability to coordinate workers, barges and helicopters throughout the transportation and installation
portions of the projects, along with the ability to manage the logistics of numerous small jobs
spread over a large geographical area, which included 3 National Parks
