Punchbowl Falls Walkway, Arthurs Pass

This project involved the installation of access stairways and a
viewing platform at the Punchbowl Falls Walkway, situated within
walking distance of Arthurs Pass village.
Seven stairs were constructed, with some sections consisting of multiple
flights of stairs and associated landings.

Service requirements included:
- precision marking out and the construction of multi-levelled foundations
- careful positioning via helicopter, of a steel viewing platform,
constructed in one piece off site
- the removal of "rotten" rock and extensive rock drilling
- working through the 2004 winter in an alpine environment, with temperatures as low as - 10 degrees
