Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track, Fiordland

Clients: Arrow International and Tuatapere Hump Ridge Trust
Project Duration: January 2001 - Ongoing

Te Ngahere were part of the construction of the Hump Ridge Track, on behalf of Arrow International, project managers for the Tuatapere Hump Ridge Trust. Our work was completed in three stages extended over two years.

The first stage involved the construction of nine kilometres of track and six kilometres of boardwalk across the Flat Creek Section, which links the Coastal Track to the first hut on the Hump Ridge Track.

The second stage involved 1050 meters boardwalk on the summit loop. Te Ngahere spent a further three months during October 2001, with Hon. Helen Clark opening the track on the 4th of November 2001.

The third stage (Oct 2002) saw the completion of a 2.2 kilometre boardwalk over peat bog communities on the Edwin-Burn side of the Hump Ridge track.

Early 2005 saw Te Ngahere establish 100 meters boardwalk over boggy sections on the Flat Creek side with a further 1.2 kilometers of boardwalk on the Edwin-Burn side.
