Manukau Foreshore Project
Since 2000 Te Ngahere has been actively involved in the planning, design and construction of
walking tracks traversing Auckland City's Manukau Harbour foreshore reserve network.
Work completed on this project to date includes the construction of various sections of track,
boardwalk and steps to enhance walkway linkages along the reserve network.
Te Ngahere has recently obtained resource consent for the next stage of walkway development
along the foreshore. This work involves the construction of an additional 1.5
kilometres of track, along with sections of boardwalk and steps within Wattle Bay,
Sylvania and Lynfield Cove reserves.
Resource consent has been applied for and granted to Te Ngahere for the following tracks:
Wattle Bay – Track A
This track allows for all tide access between Cape Horn and Wattle Bay. It links Canberra
Ave to Cape Horn Road, and is approximately 373m long and includes a 4.5m boardwalk and steps.
Wattle Bay – Track B
Wattle Bay B track includes the construction of a new walking track of approximately 630
metres long to link the concrete path at the bottom of Wattle Bay to existing entrances off
Sylvania Crescent. The track also includes 2 metres of boardwalk and flights of steps.
Sylvania
This track consists of 66.5 metres and 38 steps running from Sylvania Crescent to Manukau
Domain Coastal access way.
Lynfield Cove
Lynfield Cove track upgrade consists of 480 metres and 38 steps, which follows the existing grass-surface track to link up with an existing track at Fairsea Place. It also consists of coastal walkway of 32 metres of track and 42 steps, linking Niagra Place with Lynfield Cove track.
Grannys Bay.
Te Ngahere is currently gaining resource consent for track construction at Grannys Bay.
This track consists of a new walking track of 200 metres, which will provide a link from
Bagley Street to Filgate Street.
