Te Ngahere has experience in preparing resource consent applications in relation to recreational asset construction projects carried out by the company. This in-house service includes:

  •  consultation with affected parties
  •  preparation of an Assessment of Effects
  •  provision of documentation relating to
     archaeological / heritage sites (if required)

Effective consultation with affected parties is an important component of the consenting process, as is the need to ensure the outcome of a particular project remains in keeping with the intent of the RMA.

Manukau Foreshore Project

Since 2000 Te Ngahere has been actively involved in the planning, design and construction of walking tracks traversing Auckland City's Manukau Harbour foreshore reserve network.
Work completed on this project to date includes the construction of various sections of track, boardwalk and steps to enhance walkway linkages along the reserve network.
Te Ngahere has recently obtained resource consent for the next stage of walkway development along the foreshore. This work involves the construction of an additional 1.5 kilometres of track, along with sections of boardwalk and steps within Wattle Bay, Sylvania and Lynfield Cove reserves.

Resource consent has been applied for and granted to Te Ngahere for the following tracks:

Wattle Bay – Track A

This track allows for all tide access between Cape Horn and Wattle Bay. It links Canberra Ave to Cape Horn Road, and is approximately 373m long and includes a 4.5m boardwalk and steps.

Wattle Bay – Track B

Wattle Bay B track includes the construction of a new walking track of approximately 630 metres long to link the concrete path at the bottom of Wattle Bay to existing entrances off Sylvania Crescent. The track also includes 2 metres of boardwalk and flights of steps.

Sylvania

This track consists of 66.5 metres and 38 steps running from Sylvania Crescent to Manukau Domain Coastal access way.

Lynfield Cove

Lynfield Cove track upgrade consists of 480 metres and 38 steps, which follows the existing grass-surface track to link up with an existing track at Fairsea Place. It also consists of coastal walkway of 32 metres of track and 42 steps, linking Niagra Place with Lynfield Cove track. Grannys Bay.

Te Ngahere is currently gaining resource consent for track construction at Grannys Bay. This track consists of a new walking track of 200 metres, which will provide a link from Bagley Street to Filgate Street.


Judges Bay Tree Consent

Te Ngahere gained resource consent for the removal of 9 exotic protected trees as part of the ecological restoration at Judges Bay. Details of the resource consent application included:

  •  removal of nine exotic trees greater than 6m in height (or with a girth greater than 600mm,
     measured at 0.5m above the ground)
  •  removal of these trees as part of the recommendations in the Ecological Restoration Plan
     written by Te Ngahere
  •  extensive consultation with six different parties/organisations, including three arborists
